I developed and launched my own brand of pool chemicals. It sold on the shelves of Epicentr K, Nova Liniya, Praktiker and Leroy Merlin, and through a nationwide network of dealers across Ukraine.

I went through mistakes in production and formulas, product damaged in transit, and unfair competition, and reached No. 2 in sales volume in Ukraine after the first year.

The business had to be closed as a result of the revolution, the war and the economic crisis.

CURRENT STATUS Functional

When the pool-chemicals business collapsed because of the revolution, I received an unexpected offer to launch a project in Uganda that I couldn't refuse.

I had malaria three times, was in a car accident, and local raiders tried to take the business away and had me jailed on fabricated charges.

BECOMING A TECH GUY

INVESTMENT $2,200

STATUS Evolved

When I came back from Africa, I decided to become a tech guy, knowing nothing about the IT business except how to order a website for my own company from a contractor. So I decided to learn on the go and start with the simplest thing.

I rented a commie-block apartment near the University of Foreign Languages, hired three students part-time at $400 a month, and started teaching them to sell website development over the phone and to resell the orders to IT companies in my city.

As soon as the first orders came in, I bought a one-way ticket to the US and a motorcycle, and started selling my services on an endless business trip.

That's how I rode across the entire US on a motorcycle, from Los Angeles to New York, selling outsourced IT development. But when the COVID lockdowns began, I had to come back. A window of opportunity opened to turn a business that resold IT services into a real IT company.

To get paid directly by clients, I needed a legal entity, so I registered a company with the simple name A Company That Sells Everything.

REVENUE $833,440
STATUS Active

I had to transform from a salesperson into a systems manager, a product owner and a technology expert.

That was no easy task, because I didn't really understand any part of business except sales and marketing. So the first projects were outright failures, and the company barely made money.

I started shifting our sales focus to the areas I actually knew: marketing, sales and business process automation. That's when we started making money.

The war with Russia began and I moved to Spain, but that only gave the business an extra push. The company grew, we all gained experience, and I came to believe I could build my first tech product.

STATUS Pivoted

I had an idea: to turn a long-held dream that my brothers and I had shared since childhood into a tech business, and build an aviation startup.

The idea was researched and developed for a year and a half, and it launched with the help of my partners from Saudi Arabia, who agreed to invest in the project in 2023.

I took on the role of a founder launching a tech startup. In one year I travelled half the world promoting the project and secured the backing of industry partners.

We built the best CRM system for running a charter brokerage business. But when it came to going to market, it turned out that the big players only wanted parts of the system we had built, and the small players simply weren't ready to pay that much.

That was my mistake.

My investors didn't continue funding the project, and I was left with a system nobody needed, which had cost more than $320,000.

ACTSE's turnover fell by 56% because it had no CEO, and I went through a divorce. Everything was falling apart before my eyes.

But I didn't give up. I rethought all my values, dropped my bad habits, and started over with a clean slate. No fear, no judgement, no expectation that someone would help.

In two months I stabilised the business and worked through the startup's mistakes. I decided I would not give up and would succeed anyway, with investors or without them.

I cut EVERYTHING unnecessary from the old Fourel, everything that weighed it down and made it complicated. I kept only the idea we had just started to test before the funding ended. I wrapped this concept into an investment deck and got straight into the Antler accelerator in Dubai.

But I got rejected.

It made me angry and I felt it was unfair: I knew I was on the right path and I had absolutely nothing to lose. At the same time, working alongside some of the brightest minds from all over the world during the accelerator, I shaped an even clearer vision of my new project and believed in it even more.

I started investing all my money and resources into building the new project under the old name (to save on branding;)

I decided to launch the project in the Dubai real estate market. And to understand better how it works, I started working as a real estate broker myself.
